How can I vacation the Grand Canyon?

I’m planing a vacation with the family to the Grand Canyon, flying into Phoenix. I noticed a good tour company in Sedona. I’d like advise on where to stay with kids, I’d be arriving late at night, any advise advise on driving, avoiding dark roads, any shuttle which picks up at Phoenix airport. This will probably be in the summer.

Is there a snow ski vacation where visiting the Grand Canyon during the trip is possible (not snowbowl AZ)?

We would be coming from Texas and would like to ski for a few days and also take a day to visit the Grand Canyon. All I can find is Snowbowl, AZ and I’ve read nothing but bad things about the snow fall there.
